Study Reports AccelaCast inBanner Video Programs Engage Online Prospects Up To 23X

Accela Communications Technology Gives Companies Edge over Standard Online Video Approaches

SOUTHBOROUGH, Mass. - JUNE 13, 2006 Accela Communications, Inc., - the leading developer of on-demand rich media programs - today released the results of a new study showing that multimedia banner advertising programs built with the AccelaCast inBanner technology can extend the length of prospect engagement times by up to 14 minutes. This data represents a 23X increase in engagement time over traditional online video advertising, demonstrating that companies can use video ad placements for long-form communications and not just commercials.

AccelaCast inBanner programs integrate traditional banner advertising with long form video and Flash multimedia to deliver an interactive experience in the context of a 3rd party web site. Programs can be viewed in a nonlinear fashion giving viewers complete control of their viewing experience. AccelaCast inBanner programs are designed to broaden the reach and exposure of a message, and allow content to be delivered in a targeted editorial environment viewers are comfortable with. The key to this technology is the ability to leverage banner inventory on sites like WSJ.com, CNET.com, and Businessweek.com for the delivery of video programs that engage viewers for longer periods and support lead generation at the same time.

Engagement Results From Leading Companies Measured In Minutes Vs. Seconds

Analyzing and aggregating data across several recent client programs for companies like Apple, Cisco, HP, Intel and Iron Mountain Digital, the study factored in engagement times for over 19,000 viewers of programs with an average length of 9. 5 minutes. Results found that AccelaCast inBanner program viewers stayed engaged for 4.6 minutes, on average, and upwards of 12 to 14 minutes in longer programs. The former number representing a 23X increase above the 11.3-second average view time for traditional online video advertising, as reported by other industry vendors. In addition, past research data has shown that AccelaCast inBanner delivers click through rates from 3.0% to 4.4%, topping the 1.2% industry average for rich media banner ads.

Bill Reinstein, President/CEO commented, "the programs in this study ranged from 3 to 24 minutes in length with an average engagement time of 48%. Two somewhat obvious but important themes emerged - first, that content really matters and second, that people will watch engaging, educational video ad content when placed in the right context."
